LY2 – Mixed forests of slopes and screes:

These mesic or semi-dry submontane habitats develop on steep, detrital, rocky slopes and screes, occurring on calcareous and silicate bedrock alike, but preferring the former one. Tilia species are prevalent, mixed with Fraxinus and Acer species, sometimes with beech and/or Quercus petraea. Nitrophytes are typical in the herb layer. The total area of the habitat is around 1700 ha. It is a rare but widespread habitat in the Északi- and in the Dunántúli-középhegység (1000 and 500 ha, absent: Cserehát, Putnoki-dombság, Heves-Borsodi-dombság, Velencei-hegység, infrequent: vicinity of Medves, Cserhát). It also occurs in the mountains of Dél-Dunántúl (200 ha, Mecsek, Villányi-hegység). Occasionally its differentiation from ravine woodlands [LY1] or from mixed relic oak woodlands [LY4] can be difficult.
